About the Author

Lauren Lane is a debut author exploring the history of Americans in Paris. Lauren’s love of Paris began as a young child, when her grandmother would tell her stories of living in France, and she met Paris as a teenager. Fascinated by the long history of how Americans have been shaped by their time in Paris, Lauren’s debut work explores this cherished history through the eyes of over two hundred Americans since the time of Benjamin Franklin and the founding of the United States through the modern American writers and personalities who call Paris home.

Lauren splits her time between the US and Paris. When in the US, you can find her enjoying the history and charm of Charleston, SC or the beautiful nature of Western Pennsylvania. In Paris, you can find her in the 7th arrondissement, writing at the American Library in Paris or at Cafe Saint-Dominique. She is an avid reader, cook, community volunteer, and art enthusiast, and enjoys life with her husband Jonathan, daughter Willa, and French bulldogs Brad and Josef.

After spending nearly twenty years in the business world in organizations such as McKinsey & Company, Mercer, and Willis Towers Watson, Lauren became a full-time author in 2024. She is also a docent at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, a member of the Alliance Francaise in Pittsburgh and Charleston, and is a member of the American Friends of the Musee d’Orsay et de l’Orangerie and American Friends of the Louvre. Lauren has degrees in history and international business from the College of Charleston, and graduate degrees in business from Wake Forest University and public policy from the University of Pittsburgh.
